India 2nd in ICC ODI Rankings

They have done it! Indians have secured 2nd position and pushed down Australia to 3rd in the latest release of ICC’s ODI Rankings.

South Africa lead the pack with 125 rating points.

India have risen to second with 122 rating points. A 5-0 whitewash of the Lankans will see them cementing their position! And that is not looking impossible from any angle. India now extend their winning streak to 9 matches.

Australia meanwhile lost their 2nd ODI in the Chappell – Hadlee trophy. It brings them down to 121 rating points. NZ easily chased down the modest (lowly rather) Aussie total of 225-5. Riding on a 98 from skipper Clarke and 75 by M. Hussey, the Australian team kept a low run rate throughout to reach their end total. New Zealand on the other hand, rallied on a brilliant half century by new comer Grant Elliot, a cameo from Neil Broom and good contributions from McCullum and Ross Taylor. The win sees New Zealand go 2-0 up in the 5 match series. Australia on the other hand, extended their losing streak to 5 matches. Vettori was all praise for his team, while ‘Pup’ had his tail between his legs as he tried to remain positive for the rest of the series.
